Gap Year Opportunities
2010 Gap Year Team

Alton Castle is about to embark on its 15th year as a residential youth centre, working with children aged between 9 and 13 years. Over 8,000 children visit the Castle each year from all over the Diocese, mainly with schools, but also from other children’s organisations such as youth groups, parishes, and charities who work with children with disabilities.

Activities are delivered by a team of young people (aged from 18 years to 22 years old) who are predominantly waiting to go on to university, staying for one year, living and working as part of the Alton Castle Community. This Team bring the Castle and the Programme to life, and act as wonderfully enthusiastic role models for the children on retreat, both from a spiritual point of view and through the energy and enthusiasm they have for life.

The Team themselves benefit individually from the experience of working at the Castle, developing and maturing through the year, and leave with new skills and experiences which will undoubtedly stand them in good stead.
